§ 2-74-5. Administration; funding.
A.
Joint Administration; budget. The activities of the Aging Commission of the Mid-South shall be administered under a contractual agreement approved on an annual basis by the city and the county. The commission will be assigned to the Shelby County Division of Community Services for administrative purposes. With respect to any appropriation of funds or any gift, grant, or donation of any property or money, the aging commission shall accept and administer the same in compliance with federal, state and local policies. All contracts shall be approved by the commission and the signature of the chairperson of the commission affixed thereto. It shall be the duty of the commission to prepare and submit to the mayor of the city and the mayor of the county and any other funding sources that may be deemed appropriate, for their approval, a proposed budget for such commission for each ensuing fiscal year. The commission will be jointly funded by the city and the county and any other agencies, including the state commission on aging, who are interested in serving seniors as provided under the terms of this chapter.
B.
Area agency; funding formula. It is the intent of this chapter and, on its concurrence by Fayette, Lauderdale and Tipton Counties, that the Aging Commission of the Mid-South continue to be designated by the Tennessee Commission on Aging as the area agency on aging. To that end, all parties to the creation of the Aging Commission of the Mid-South agree that the current distribution of funds be continued according to the formula established by the State Commission on Aging and Disability.
