§ 2-18-1. Condemnation.

  • A.

    Whenever any tangible personal property belonging to the city becomes unfit for service or use by the city, in any of its departments, such fact shall be promptly reported by the person having custody thereof to the director of his or her department and such director, after receiving such report, shall promptly examine into the condition of the property, and if, in his or her judgment, the same is unfit for service or use to the city in any of its departments, he or she shall condemn the property and shall at once notify the purchasing agent, giving him or her a complete report on such property, its condition, quantity, location and description.

    B.

    Notwithstanding the above provisions, no tangible personal property of the city, possessing a value of $500.00 or more, shall be condemned except by resolution of the city council.
