§ 9-8-23. Assistance of police in enforcing health laws.

Whenever necessary to carry out the provisions of the health and sanitary laws, the
health officer shall have the power to call upon the director of police services for
a detail of officers, and the director of police shall furnish such officers, and
the officers so detailed shall act under the direction of the health officer for the
time being, for the purpose of carrying out the provisions of any health or sanitary
law or regulation, and for the time being, such police officer shall be clothed with
all the power to enter buildings and abate nuisances therein conferred upon the department
of health.
