§ 9-72-8. Building and physical plant.
A.
The provider shall be responsible for providing all required utilities. Heating and cooling shall be provided and maintained which will provide a temperature of not less than 70 degrees Fahrenheit, nor more than 85 degrees Fahrenheit. The home shall have an adequate supply of hot and cold or tempered water at each wash basin and bathtub/shower, kitchen sink, laundry equipment, and adequate hot and cold water to the dishwasher.

The building shall comply with all local, state and federal codes, designed for minimum risk from injuries and accidents. Fireplaces must be screened when in use. Floors, walls, ceilings and vents shall be in good repair in all parts of the home. All windows must be screened except those in which mechanical air conditioning units are installed. All parts of the building are to be kept clean by the provider, his or her staff or his or her agents. Safeguards must be taken at all times to minimize fire hazards associated with cigarette, cigar, or pipe smoking by providing metallic ashtrays, or the setting aside of smoking areas.
C.
Individual telephone service, if provided, will be provided per written agreement between the provider and resident. All telephone areas shall provide numbers for fire department, police department, medical and ambulance service, and must be posted and easily readable by the elderly.
D.
Food preparation areas shall comply with chapter 9-52.
