§ 9-44-5. Elevator key box.

    Requirement—Installation. Owners of all structures containing elevators, with the exception of residential lifts, shall be required to install and maintain an approved key box at an accessible location approved by the fire official. The key and lock on such box shall meet standardized fire department regulations. The box shall contain elevator access and control keys, but may also contain keys necessary for life-saving or fire-fighting purposes.

    B.

    Effective date. Effective September 1, 1984, this section shall apply to all structures, whether new building construction or existing building construction.
