§ 8-20-8. Exemptions.

  • Hunting dogs are exempt from the provisions of this chapter when engaged in any legal hunt or training procedure. Dogs engaged in training or exhibiting in legal sports such as obedience trials, conformation shows, field trials, retrieving trials, herding trials, or when engaged in any legal procedures, are exempt from the provisions of this chapter. However, such dogs at all other times in all other acts shall be subject to this chapter. The foregoing exemptions shall not apply unless all damages done by dogs or animals, therein exempted, to the person or property of another, shall be paid to that person or his or her agent within 30 days after the damage is done.
