Chapter 6-8. BARBERS AND BARBERSHOPS |
§ 6-8-1. Definitions.
For the purpose of this chapter:
Barber means any person who practices barbering as defined in this section.
Barbering shall consist of any one or any combination of the following practices, when done for payment, directly or indirectly, or without payment for the public generally:
1.
Shaving or trimming the beard;
2.
Cutting or styling the hair;
3.
Giving facials and scalp massages or treatments with oils, creams, lotions or other preparations, either by hand or mechanical appliances;
4.
Singeing, curling, shampooing, coloring, bleaching, or straightening the hair or applying hair tonics;
5.
Cutting, fitting, measuring and forming head caps for wigs or hair pieces; or
6.
Hair weaving, excluding medical or surgical procedures.
Barbershop means any building or portion of a building within the city in which any person is engaged in the practice of barbering and includes all portions of the premises under the control of the owner or manager thereof, which portions are used in part or in whole for the conduct of the business, and, for the purpose of this chapter, shall include any barber school or barber college in which barbers are trained.
Manager and/or owner means any person having, for the time being, control of the premises and of persons working or employed in a barbershop.
