§ 4-16-2. Mentally or legally incompetent recipients.

  • The board, in its sole, absolute and uncontrolled discretion, may direct the comptroller, and the comptroller shall follow such direction, to make benefit payments directly to the legal guardian of a legally incompetent or otherwise disabled person (whether because of minority or mental or physical disability), or to a court-appointed committee acting on behalf of such person. The receipt of such guardian, committee, relative or other custodian shall be a complete discharge to the comptroller, the city, and the board, without any responsibility on the part of the comptroller, the city, or the board, to see to the application of such distribution.
