§ 2-68-2. Appointment and term of members.

The members of the arts and science commission shall be appointed by the mayor with the approval of a majority of the council for terms of three years after the initial terms. Each term shall expire on June 30 of the appropriate year. A member shall hold office until his or her successor has been appointed, with eligibility for reappointment. Vacancies shall be filled for any unexpired term. It is further provided that there shall be serving as commissioners at all times not less than two members who have been recommended for nomination by the Memphis Academy of Arts and by Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, respectively.
