§ 1-8-1. City seal—Design.

The official seal of the city shall have the following design:

The seal shall have at the top thereof the word "MEMPHIS," on the right side, the word "COUNTY," at the bottom thereof the word "TENNESSEE," and on the left, the word "SHELBY"; in the middle there shall be the design of a "Steam Boat"; in the upper right shall be depicted a "Gear"; in the upper left shall be an "Oak Leaf' and on the bottom immediately beneath the steam boat shall be a "Cotton Boll" with two leaves attached.

Below is printed a facsimile of the design which shall be the official seal of the city:
