§ 10-28-3. Truancy—Parental responsibility.

  • Notwithstanding any other statute, provision, ordinance or regulation to the contrary, if any minor child is found, detained, or apprehended by a school truancy officer or a city police officer, upon the public streets during school hours during any school term who is unable to give an accounting of his or her whereabouts, the parents, parent, guardian, or ward having legal custody of the minor, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, subject to a fine of up to $50.00, plus penalties as provided in section 1-24-1.
